Yesterday the City of Victoria hosted its second live news conference bringing much-needed good news to the Victoria community.

According to City Manager, Jesus Garza, Victoria should begin to see water returning to their homes and businesses beginning at about noon today and will continue to see water returning throughout the City in the next few days as well.

Garza reiterated that when the City states water will begin to return in the next day or two starting at around noon today, it doesn't mean every resident and business in Victoria will have water right away. It's a process and unfortunately, it is a process that takes time.

Crews are working non-stop to fill the water towers even with water line breaks continuing to be identified, isolated, and if applicable repaired.

Yesterday through the windows of the Townsquare Media studio windows we watched crew members work for hours on Tower #3 and were able to snap a shot of the hard work and efforts made by city workers. We commend our water and electrical workers as they work relentlessly to put our community back on the grid and running again!

In the latest civic alert provided by the City of Victoria which you can read in its entirety here, City officials offer that, "Unlike the water failure that occurred during Hurricane Harvey in 2017, which was the result of a power outage, the loss of water service that many residents are experiencing is a result of two factors: water main lines breaking as pipes thaw and increased demand on the system due to the severe winter weather.

A hotline number for residents to call to report leaks has been activated by the City. The number to call is 361-485-3381 and the City offers that they will continue to keep the community updated through all means daily.
