Has your business been visited by someone claiming to be from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) lately? If so, you may have been the victim of an attempted scam.

According to a press release from the Victoria Police Department, there are reports of  fraudulent activity involving subjects going to businesses in Victoria claiming to be representatives of OSHA, conducting inspections. The offenders conduct an "inspection" and then inform the business owners there is a violation involving the OSHA required notices to employees poster displayed in the business which will require the business owner to purchase a poster at an inflated price, pay a fine before they leave or face being immediately closed by OSHA for the violation.

One offender has been arrested in connection with the investigation, but at least one other unknown offender is still in the area.

If you are approached by anyone involved in this or a similar activity, immediately contact the Victoria Police Department at 361-573-3221.
