You may think you already know the answer to "What is the Best Fall Dessert?" and I might say you COULD be wrong. In fact, everyone has a common idea of what makes a good fall dessert and those ideas include either pumpkin or apple. While you are true in that regard, there are more than just pumpkin and apple desserts to scent your kitchen post baking. Don't forget that ginger is a pretty big key part of fall baking as well.

In mentioning of apple desserts, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Is it apple pie? My first thought was...well, apple pie and bacon. Now you might be thinking, "What? Apple Pie and...Bacon? Does such a thing exist?" Well, I am happy to say that it does exist.

Here I shall give you a recipe for Bacon-Weave Apple Pie:

Ingredients:
1 pie crust (you can make it or buy it, your choice)
3lbs Apples (your choice of brand, but make sure they are peeled, cored and sliced into wedges)
1/2cup sugar
2tbsp flour
1tbsp lemon juice
1/2tsp cinnamon
1pinch Salt
10 Bacon pieces
1/4cup Brown Sugar

How to:
You're going to need to preheat your oven (duh) to 350 degrees, and grease a pie pan while you're at it. Then in a large bowl, you need to stir/mix the apple wedges, sugar, flour, lemon juice cinnamon and salt together. With your bacon, you will need to weave a lattice out of the 10 strips you have. If you need some guidance on bacon-weaving, you can learn here.
Put pie crust into pie pan (shape the edges as needed for that "Perfect Pie" shape). Pour in your apple mixture into the pie crust and top it off with your bacon weave lattice. Feel free to sprinkle some brown sugar and extra bacon (because there is not such thing as "too much bacon") and cover with aluminum foil. Bake for an hour, remove foil and then bake another 15 minutes (or until the bacon is crisp)
At this point you can try and eat it, but you will most likely burn your mouth. So I suggest you let it cool for a bit then dig right in. You have the option to slice and serve, or eat with a fork right out of the bowl (pie pan) and not share. Again, its up to you how you want to enjoy your pie. Try to see if adding more bacon would help the overall taste.
