I'm sure you've heard the story. An employee goes to work, it's a normal day. The employee is called out to work on something and proceeds to work area to conduct work. But suddenly, something goes horribly wrong. A small seemingly harmless act causes catastrophic results. Such was the morning for a contractor who was in the process of trying to move soil from the line which resulted in the water main breaking, according to Houston Public Work officials.

East Loop 610 was hit the hardest and vehicles in the surrounding area were nowhere near safe from the raging waters as they became submerged. Not just the vehicles were impacted, but surrounding businesses and schools were water damaged as well. In fact, the schools had to be shut down and evacuated.

The flooding only worsed as some people ended up stranded and had to be rescued from their flooded vehicles.

If you are traveling from the Crossroads to Houston, bare in mind that Houston authorities are urging everyone to avoid Loop 610 and Clinton Drive in the East Houston area. In the meantime, city workers and even the fire department are working tirelessly to assist those in need and fix the problem in a timely manner. Special thanks go out to the persons at KLTV (Your East Texas News Leader) and The Houston Chronicle for staying on top of this issue and keeping the public updated on current developments of the flooding and for providing the information and content used in this blog.
