October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

It wasn't until 1985 when the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month Council banded with the American Cancer Society and the pharmaceutical AstraZeneca who was a producer of several anti-breast cancer drugs with the sole aim of promoting mammography as the most effective weapon in the fight against breast cancer.

Project Tickled Pink Event 2021

Well, tonight is a very special night in Victoria, especially for Crossroads men, women, and families who have dealt with the effects of breast cancer. It's our Project Tickled Pink Event which supports the Crossroads Guardians of Hope. And you are invited.

Tickets to tonight's event which starts at 5:30 pm for Happy Hour can be purchased here. The proceeds from tonight's event will help raise support awareness of families going through cancer, and to assist those families who have been strapped so heavily with the cost of this disease by providing money to the Crossroads Guardians of Hope.

Crossroads Guardians of Hope

The Crossroads Guardians of Hope website which you can access here offers that their non-profit organization's mission, " Is to support all types of cancer relief efforts and focus on the patient as a whole in whatever type of cancer they battle.

Victoria's famous pink fire truck "Debbie" is a part of the mission of Crossroads Guardians of Hope!

It's a night of awareness, support and celebration with a very special mission and very special honorees who include; Keimyrn Lee, Cheryl Barker, Sabra Sauer, Courtney Rozner, Sandra Hester, Jennifer Bankhead, Marty Stockbauer, Britany Tomas, and Vanessa Dalton.

There will even be fun games to play along with dinner, a live auction, and raffle drawing. Tonight's event includes a live auction that includes a guitar signed and donated by George Strait!

Where did the pink ribbon come from and why is it used today?

Evelyn Lauder who you might have guessed as the daughter of Estee Lauder was the Senior Corporate Vice President of the Estee Lauder Corporation and she founded the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and established the pink ribbon as its symbol in 1993.

Breast Cancer affects everyone, men, women, children, and families all over the world.

Globally, in 2020 alone, there were 2.3 million women diagnosed with breast cancer. The latest statistics indicate that in America alone, one in eight women will develop breast cancer. Breast cancer statistics can be overwhelming, but we can band together in our communities to help educate and support those who are affected.
