Top Five Reasons All Texans Should Go To The Empty Bowls Event
There is always something cool to do in Texas, even when it's still cool outside, and Empty Bowls in Victoria Texas is HOT HOT HOT!
Here are the top five reasons you don't want to miss it.
Victoria College's Empty Bowls event will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12 in the Victoria College Student Center located at 2200 E. Red River St. right here in Victoria Texas.
PRO TIP: GET THERE EARLY
Victoria's fastest-growing annual art fundraiser includes local artists' hand-kilned collectible bowls filled with incredible soup from several local Victoria restaurants.
Reason Number 5 of Why You Should Go to Empty Bowls: You Get To Break Stuff!
When the potting students at Victoria College create a bowl that is flawed, they stack them up and for a small fee, you get to smash them against a brick wall. It's so therapeutic and fun! Seriously- go break something!
Reason Number 4 of Why You Should Go to Empty Bowls: You Get To Eat Soup!
Local restaurants throughout the Crossroads donate delicious and hot hot hot soup from their kitchens, straight into your bowl.
Reason Number 3 of Why You Should Go to Empty Bowls: You Support Art
Don't know much about art? Every bowl is an original work of art and if you buy two or more bowls for $20.00 a piece ( remember it gets filled with the soup of your choice) you just became an art collector and you support art in the community too!
Reason Number 2 of Why You Should Go to Empty Bowls: You Support Education
There are so many good reasons to attend Empty Bowls, but potters are getting harder to find. It's an incredible artist outlet and your donation helps an aspiring art student attend classes with an Empty Bowls Student Art Scholarship.
All of that goodness and we haven't even gotten to the BIGGEST REASON WHY YOU SHOULD GO TO EMPTY BOWLS...
The Reason Number 1 Why You Should Go to Empty Bowls?
Your donation supports several food banks and food kitchens in the Crossroads!
Yep, the $20 you spent on a one-of-a-kind bowl is divided by organizations dedicated to helping families who have food deficits; Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, Christ’s Kitchen, Victoria Christian Assistance Ministry (VCAM), and Victoria County Senior Citizen Center, as well as the Victoria College Visual Arts Scholarship. Wow right?
Since 2004 Empty Bowls hosted by Victoria College has raised over $220,000!
You can learn more about Empty Bowls and even a bit about the VC Art Gallery by listening to Victoria Report this Sunday morning on our Townsquare Media radio stations.
But wait there is more.
There will be a silent auction to further the cause AND you get to watch live potter demonstrations and you can try it too!
Thank you for this collaborative effort supported by a dedicated group of volunteers, ceramic students, potters, restaurants, and chefs as well as art enthusiasts and kind-hearted Texans.
