Now that Upfronts 2015 have entered the scheduling phase, we thought most of the major renewals, cancellations and pickups had delivered their biggest surprises. Not so apparently, as FOX has decided to put American Idol out to pasture after 15 seasons, ending the reality singing competition for good next year.

There were rumors that there was going to be a big 'American Idol' shake-up, but before anything was made official Randy Jackson has given the show his walking papers. Jackson announced today that Season 12 will be his last on the hit show.

'American Idol' got its second shocking elimination of the season, only this time, the judges weren't able to savePia Toscano. In a major surprise, the 22-year-old beauty, who wowed America early on with such performances as 'I'll Stand By You,' 'All By Myself' and this week's 'River Deep, Mountain High,' leaves the competition tonight as season 10 wields down to just eight contestants.
