As authorities arrived on the scene yesterday morning, two samaritans were already on the ground performing CPR, desperately trying to revive 23-year-old Victorian Ashley Gainer, who had been shot while inside of a Cobalt vehicle.

The incident, which would prove to be fatal, started at a convenience store parking lot in Nursery.

Gainer was transported to DeTar Hospital where she died from the gunshot wound,  authorities reported.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, along with DeWitt County and Victoria County Sheriff deputies apprehended two suspects that allegedly fled the scene in a white pick-up truck toward Cuero.

38-year-old Cuero resident Justin Taylor has been formally charged with murder.

According to Crossroads Today,  "Authorities say Gainer was in a Cobalt that was involved in a possible drug transaction at a convenience store in Nursery. Following a dispute, Justin Taylor, who was inside the white pick up truck, chased the Cobalt and fired several shots into the vehicle. One bullet hit Gainer."

Justin and a passenger, Michelle Helge, 33 of Cuero, who is charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, were found on Folly Road by the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office. A weapon was found near the scene by Victoria deputies and a K-9 unit.
