Shocking $1 Upcharge: Exposing Starbucks’ Light Ice Controversy!
The infamous coffee powerhouse Starbucks is about to piss off a whole lot of customers.
UPCHARGING FOR LIGHT ICE
The caffeine mogul dabbles in drinks other than coffee. A Starbies summer staple is their Refreshers. The very popular drink comes in various tropical flavors.
Customizing drinks is all part of the Starbucks experience. Whether you want to add extra flavor or throw a banana in your frap, it's all up to you.
THE MYSTERIOIUS EXTRA CHARGE
Customers are scoffing at an extra $1 Starbucks is adding for certain requests. Paying for extra ingredients is a no-brainer, but one fee is getting people riled up. The rage started when customers noticed an extra charge for 'light ice. But, Reddit users are clearing things up.
SO AM I PAYING AN EXTRA DOLLAR OR NOT?
Yes and no. If you order light ice/no ice, the price should remain the same. Yet, you WILL pay an extra dollar if you order a Refresher with NO WATER.
Customers aren't the only ones confused, many Starbucks baristas are puzzled too. One Reddit user explained, "Everyone please do the training and stop telling customers it applies to light ice!!!"
NO WATER = EXTRA CHARGE
The charge isn't for the lack of water, it is for the extra base that is added to make up for the absence of water. We went to the Starbucks website and tried it for ourselves.
The result was:
- regular ice = no extra charge
- light ice = no extra charge
- no ice = no extra charge
- no water = extra charge
Unless you're prepared to pay an extra $1, think twice before ordering your Refresher with no water.
