Since the band split in 2013, many My Chemical Romance fans have grown adept at supporting former frontman Gerard Way's comic book career, even catapulting his graphic novel The Umbrella Academy into Netflix ubiquity. Now the group's ex-bassist and Way's younger brother, Mikey Way, has finally announced a comic title of his own, Collapser, which will have his first-ever author credit. It's due out July 17 via the elder Way's newly reactivated DC Comics imprint, Young Animal.

"The time has finally come where I can share something I've been working on for the past couple of years!" Mikey announced Wednesday on social media. "Keeping this one a secret has been hard, as I'm beaming with excitement about this project. I want to present to you Collapser!! The next wave of [DC Comics'] Young Animal has been unleashed on the world." See the post below.

The forthcoming series from the newcomer sibling to the comic world was co-created with writer Shaun Simon and illustrator Ilias Kyriazis. Simon previously worked with Gerard on The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

Gerard will make a return to the revived Young Animal imprint himself with a new Doom Patrol narrative. The now solo musician's publishing arm was initially put on hold last year before being started up again, ABC News reported.

Mikey authored his Collapser story about a "wannabe DJ" named Liam who finds a package "containing a black hole that gives him amazing powers and draws him into a cosmic conflict far beyond anything he’d ever imagined."

After all, if Gerard and Corey Taylor can do it, why can't he?
