It Takes A Village for Our Grab and Go Backpack Drive

We have all likely heard the age-old adage, 'It takes a village to raise a child,' and in times like this, the adage resonates higher than ever with most parents. In our community and throughout the nation, our students are facing great changes; online classes, social distancing while on campus, masks throughout the day; the list goes on.

One way we thought we could help to make the transition from an extensive summer break to back to school smoother was by offering backpacks and supplies to students whose families may have struggled during this time otherwise to provide them.

And like a village, we were not alone.

Tomorrow we will host our Grab N' Go Backpack Drive at 6 pm at Toyota Victoria. This is an opportunity for parents, with their students present, to have the opportunity to drive up and have a backpack and supplies delivered to their car window while supplies last. And we could not have done this without the help of the community. Our village. The men and women and even the children of Toyota Victoria, Biomat USA as well as  All-Star Properties, Budget Blinds, Brannan Paving Company, Car Country, Chick fil A, Detar, Devereux Garden Center, Healthcare System, KCI Klean Corp International, Miss Golden Crescent Court, PAM Specialty Out-Patient Services, Precision Tune, Royalty Nails, The UPS Store, VCS Companies – Communications and Security, Victoria College, Victoria Er- 24-hour Emergency Center, Will & Grace The Salon, Woodmen Life Insurance and Zoom Physical Therapy and Wellness.

A special thank you for today to the staff of Chic-fil-A, Younglife, and Post Acute Medical along with Kandance Monney and her boys Major and Maxton for packing each and every backpack in preparation for tomorrow's event.

These are the businesses and people behind what is sure to be a monumental Grab and Go, who support the children in our community and for that, we are most grateful.
