H-E-B Extending Hours Beginning Monday, April 27

Back in March, H-E-B reduced its store hours to give its partners time to restock shelves, prevent stores from being overwhelmed by panic buyers, and assist with social distancing efforts to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

While they're not yet ready to go back to their traditional hours (24/7, in many locations), they are expanding their hours beginning Monday, April 27 as a first step in hopefully getting back to normal soon.

In a news release, the company announced that all H-E-B locations will open at 7 AM and close at 10 PM.

The company cited an improving supply chain and stronger product availability for the decision, and said their stores now have the capacity to serve more customers.

In addition to the expansion of hours, H-E-B will also be rolling back product limits on a number of items, and many locations will begin reopening their bakery, deli, and floral departments.

H-E-B pharmacies will continue to operate from 8 AM to 8 PM weekdays while maintaining normal weekend hours. Check with your nearest location for those hours.

The grocery chain will not be easing their hygiene, sanitation, or social distancing measures. There will remain in each store a team of COVID-19 partners and managers who are trained to ensure those measures are properly implemented for the safety of customers and employees.

Expect to see H-E-B partners deep cleaning and sanitizing surfaces and fuel pumps, metering entry into stores, providing crowd control when necessary, and continuing to offer contactless home delivery where possible.

Personally, I think H-E-B has done an amazing job of not only anticipating COVID-19 early on, but keeping the Lone Star State supplied as well as any store could under these circumstances.

I'm not alone in that sentiment, either. H-E-B was recently praised by conservative, non-profit legal organization Pacific Legal Foundation for their response to the pandemic. I'm also in contact with friends and family who now live out of state and tell me how much they miss H-E-B and everything they do for Texas communities.
