10/10-Victoria County Judge Ben Zeller has allowed Victoria bars and like establishments to reopen at 50% capacity as Victoria County met the COVID number criteria beginning Wednesday, October 14th.

Gov. Abbott has ordered the reopening of bars and similar establishments at 50% capacity beginning October 14th for those communities whose COVID-19 hospitalizations are less than 15% of total hospital capacity as well as reopening all businesses other than bars to 75% capacity.

Victoria County officials will review Gov. Abbott's Executive Order with experts today to see if the reopening bars at 50% capacity in Victoria County is applicable at this time. We will keep you posted once we know if the metric Gov. Abbott is currently using for COVID-19 hospitalizations applies to Victoria's regional hospitals.

Gov. Abbott has released a video available on Youtube here and below to explain the latest Executive Order.

The latest Executive Order also states that the occupancy levels for all business establishments other than bars will also raise to 75% which is a sigh of relief for many businesses such as gyms and retailers in Texas who needed this increase in occupancy to stay profitable altogether.

"As Texas reopens in the midst of COVID-19, increased spread is to be expected, and the key to controlling the spread and keeping Texas residents safe is for all Texans to consistently follow good hygiene and social-distancing practices, especially those set forth in the minimum standard health protocols from the Texas Department of State Health Services."
