The Victoria Parks and Recreation Department is urging Victorians to #DiscoverParksVictoria throughout the month of July in celebration of the National Parks and Recreation Month.

That means residents can join the fun all through the month by celebrating the 4th of July with music and fireworks, playing in a golf scramble, cooling off with ice cream socials, taking in baseball games, and playing games like the Parks Digital Scavenger Hunt and Aero Crafters Trivia night.

One of the major events in #DiscoverParksVictoria this year is the Parks and Recreation Field Day on July 13.  This day-long event will feature family fun activities like disc golf, kayaking, and nature walks, as well as volleyball, washer toss and kickball tournaments, all served up with food and fun.

More information on Parks and Recreation Month activities planned for Victoria is available by calling 361-485-3200 or visiting online at here.

Since 1985, America has celebrated July as the nation’s official Parks and Recreation Month. Created by NRPA, Parks and Recreation Month specifically highlights the vital and powerful role local parks and recreation, such as Victoria Parks and Recreation, play in conservation, health and wellness, and social equity efforts in communities all across the country.
