Football is back! There were some great games this past Friday in the openers for area high schools, and the results prompted movement in the AP Poll.

The Cuero Gobblers opened their season with a close 49-42 win over Bay City. That win moved the Gobblers up 2 spots to #4 in Class 4A. Meanwhile, Goliad crushed Columbus by a score of 60-7, and they held on to their 4th place ranking in Class 3A. In that class, Yoakum's loss to Boerne dropped them out of the Top 10, and in Class 2A, Refugio stayes on top following a 35-0 shutout of Tidehaven. Here's a look at the rankings.
