I guess if it wasn't for bad luck, Texas wouldn't have any luck at all.

Ever feel that being a resident of Texas, Lady Luck just isn't on your side? Apparently, it may just be the fact that you live in Texas.

Not everyone is a believer in luck. Some just think things work out the way they are supposed to. That's all good, but I think there's a little luck in everything - not always good luck, but a little luck nonetheless.

The folks at Best Life decided to see if the state you live in contributed to having good or bad luck. What they found was kind of crazy. Seems like us folks here in Texas are cursed with bad luck the most out of any other state.

To determine the unluckiest state, Best life looked at five key metrics to come up with a 100-point Unlucky Index. They went with each state’s accident mortality rate and accident death rates, number of official natural disasters (since 1953), number of Powerball winners, and unemployment rates.

With all that in mind, Texas was named the Unluckiest State. Yep, the Lone Star state has a 39.7% rate of accidental deaths and 360 natural disasters. We also have only had two Powerball winners and an unemployment rate of 6.9%.

Let's take it one step further and think about how unlucky Tony Romo was in his playoff games. If you're a Dallas Cowboys fan, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

The official list is as follows:

    • Texas
    • California
    • New Mexico
    • West Virginia
    • Oklahoma
    • Washington
    • Mississippi
    • Louisiana
    • Arizona
    • Florida

So which state is the luckiest, according to Best Life? That would be Utah, which gets high points for only having 47 natural disasters and an unemployment rate of just 3%.  They've never had a Powerball winner there because gambling is illegal in Utah.

So the next time you're feeling a little down on your luck, blame it on Texas.
