See you later alligator!

As a Texan, I am all too familiar with seeing alligators from time to time in waters throughout my state travels, but y'all I've never seen alligators like this! Now a Crossroads viral video on Facebook, this "congregation" of alligators is causing quite a stir! Check them out!

Now friends who live in Indianola say they see congregations of alligators like this often and offer that anyone who lives there is probably rolling their eyes at the hype, but you have to admit, seeing so many gators in one spot is a little discerning at least!

This leads to a few interesting facts about alligators that you might not know if you encounter one, or in the case of the now-viral video, dozen of them!

According to Texas Parks and Wildlife, " If you have a close encounter with an alligator a few yards away, back away slowly. It is extremely rare for wild alligators to chase people, but they can run up to 35 miles per hour for short distances on land."

And I thought this went without saying but the TPWD website also adds, " If you see a large alligator in your favorite swimming hole or pond, do not swim with it. Although alligator attacks in Texas are rare, they do happen."

If you happen to encounter an alligator while you're in the water, or if you are attacked, CNN- Travel consulted with experts who offer that going for an alligator's eyes or snout is your best defense. Or after watching the video above and being reminded of how terrifying alligators are, you can also avoid going into Texas waters. Ever again. Just saying.

But if you insist... here is gallery of pics just for you!
