Tomorrow our community will gather to pay tribute and their respects in honor of our fine mayor, Mr. Rawley McCoy who passed away unexpectedly last Friday night.

The public is invited to attend Mayor McCoy's visitation tomorrow, Wednesday, March 10, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Rosewood Funeral Chapel which is located at 3304 E. Mockingbird Lane in Victoria, Texas.

Dignity Memorial has a written tribute on their website which you can read here, that very eloquently highlights the life of Mr. McCoy. There is a wonderful story that we spoke about today on air on our morning show where Rawley as a young man in school raised his hand when asked if anyone in his classroom was interested in a summer drafting class.

"Of course, Rawley raised his hand and discovered his love of architecture and his lifelong profession," the obituary reads.

"Of course, Rawley raised his hand.' This sentence embodies who we knew Rawley to be. A man who would step up to the plate to offer his time and service for others, which in 2019 included the entire City of Victoria. He will be remembered for many things, including his service to our community.

"Rawley’s love for his community was only outshone by his love of his family. His life will forever be cherished by the love of his life, his wife, Kay Klotzman McCoy. His children, Kristin Erin McCoy Holub and husband, Jaime, Timothy Jordan McCoy and wife, Grete and Kathryn Caroline McCoy; brothers, Fred (Claire) McCoy and Gary (Pat) McCoy; and sister, Beverly McCoy (deceased); grandchildren, Matthew, Caroline and Natalie Holub, Lillian and Charles McCoy and Anika and Liv McBath and nieces and nephews."

In lieu of flowers consider, Rawley's family has asked that you make a donation to a non-profit of your choice or to educational organizations mentioned in the tribute above.

A private funeral is planned for the family at a later time.
