There are numerous locations set up around town today where you can get registered to vote.

The following drives will be set up:

  • Pattie Dodson Health Center (curbside) 8 a.m.- 5p.m.
  • Victoria County Elections Office (curbside) 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
  • Victoria College Student Center (curbside) 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
  • University of Houston- Victoria University Commons 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Margret Hill, Victoria Count Election Administrator, indicates that voters need to bring a Texas Driver License and Social Security number to fill out the application. Hill told Crossroadstoday.com that “The number has to match the name, or the Application will be rejected.”

Aside from today being National Voter Registration Day, there are a few more important days to be aware of:

  • Oct. 5: Last day to register to vote
  • Oct. 13: Early voting starts
  • Oct. 23: Last day to apply to vote by mail
  • Oct. 30: Early voting ends
  • Nov. 3: Election Day
  • Nov 4 at 5 p.m.: Postmarked mail ballots must be received to be counted

Every vote counts, and since the last election, there are an estimated 15 million new eligible voters! This means 15 million new voices can be heard, but they can only be heard if people get out there and cast their votes on Election Day this November, but the first step to doing so is to get registered.

If you cannot make it in person today, be sure to visit votetexas.gov and register to vote by printing a voter registration application, then print, sign, and mail the form directly to your county election office.
