Not shopping for school clothes this weekend? Here are some things to do this weekend to still shop local, encourage local artisans, and support a phenomenal nonprofit!

This weekend head over to the Annual Victoria Faire, and the Victoria Farmer's Market. The best part? Both of these events benefit the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent!

The Annual Victoria Faire is celebrating its ninth year in Victoria and it gets bigger and better EVERY year. This show has grown over the last few years to include many new vendors including art, crafts of all kinds, handmade gifts, gourmet food, jewelry and accessories, clothing, yard art... the list goes on. Held at the Victoria Community Center this weekend August 8th, Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm and again on August 9th, Sunday from 11 am - 4 pm. Admission is $5.00 for adults over the age of 12 but one admission ticket is good for both days AND if you bring a canned good or non-perishable food item, in support of our Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, you will receive $1.00 discount on your admission!

Next is Victoria's Farmers Market. It's a big Saturday for the Victoria Farmers Market whose proceeds continue to support the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent, as this weekend is National Farmer's Market Week and as a HUGE thank you for Victoria's support of the Victoria Farmer's Market, they are offering a $1.00 discount to everyone who brings their own shopping bags to the market, helping our community support local farmers as well as reducing plastic.

Meridith Laza, Director of Community Engagement / Manager of Victoria Farmers' Market offers, "We have truly been amazed at the number of people shopping at the market this year. We saw an immediate jump in customers when the stores ran out of meats and produce; sometimes the market was sold out of nearly everything, and we are grateful that people look to us as a source of fresh, healthy foods!

Visit the VFM Saturday, August 8th from 9 to 1 pm.

In 2019, the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent distributed more than 5.5 million pounds of food through its network of agencies, providing over 4.6 million meals. We can't even imagine what 2020 numbers will look like at the end of the year.

Every $1 you donate to the FBGC helps them provide 8 meals.
