Current watches and warnings for the area include:

  • Tropical Storm Warning (through Monday afternoon)
  • Hurricane Warning
  • Flash Flood Watch (through Sunday evening)

Saturday will bring showers, thunderstorms, and possibly some tropical-storm-force winds to Victoria County as Hanna makes landfall. Thankfully, the rain models for Victoria country are not as high as a couple of days ago with the National Weather Service estimating Victoria County could see 1 to 2 inches of rain today.

Showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage today as Hurricane Hanna makes landfall. Hurricane-force winds are going to be an issue along the coast south of Mesquite Bay and into the central and southern coastal bend today. Moderate to major coastal flooding is also possible when Hanna makes landfall.

Winds in Victoria county will be strong enough to push your trash cans down the street and send your lawn chairs over to Edna if they are not put away while the storm blows through. Remember that the next storm Gonzalo is moving into the Caribbean and could be into the Gulf of Mexico next week. Go ahead and top off the gas tank and stay weather aware. It's that time of year y'all!
