With four highly praised seasons of Inside Amy Schumer and one successful feature film under her belt, Amy Schumer has reached the point where she can pretty much write her own ticket. We’ve known for a while now that Schumer had targeted a mother-daughter adventure movie as her next project, but with Schumer juggling the careers of three or four different performers, we had also resigned ourselves to a bit of a wait.

Thankfully, screenwriter Katie Dippold (The Heat) has finally let a few details drop on her collaboration with Schumer. In a recent interview with Collider, the writer described her new movie as the result of a bit of daydreaming on her own relationship with her mother. After a failed attempt to set her mother up with an online dating account, Dippold began to wonder what it would be like if she took her mother on a grand adventure, just to shake things up again. The tropical adventure film starring Schumer and Goldie Hawn was the result.

But I started daydreaming about, what if I took her on a crazy vacation somewhere, and then I took us off the beaten path, just to shake things up … So, the movie is that. She gets taken off the beaten path, but then everything the mother feared is correct. So, it’s then basically trying to get to an American embassy through the Amazon rainforest and whatnot.

As Collider points out in the interview, it has been almost 14 years since Goldie Hawn took on a movie role, which we can all agree is way the heck too long. A new Amy Schumer movie is reward enough, but bringing Goldie Hawn back to her adventure roots? What more could we possibly need?
