One Texas Pastor Arrested Over Shocking Sexual Assault Reports
A Texas pastor is sitting in a jail cell on nearly a half-a-million-dollar bond after being arrested twice for startling charges.
PASTOR ACCUSED OF SEXUAL ASSAULT
Pastor Gerardo Gonzalez from Despertar Ministries in Mission, Texas has allegedly not been practicing what he preaches. According to a woman, who is a member of the church, Gonzalez sexually assaulted her.
ASSAULT IN THE CHURCH
The woman contacted police on September 5th and gave startling details on how Gonzalez treated her. According to the affidavit, Gonzalez was “aggressive towards her” by giving her a tight hug. During a church service, Gonzalez would "touch her breast and genital area, while hiding behind the podium, the document continues."
THE DISTURBING FIRST ASSAULT
According to the woman, this was not the first time Gonzalez acted inappropriately. On August 15th, Gonzalez told her and her husband to go to his house for prayer. When they arrived Gonzalez had the woman’s husband stand behind her, placing one hand over his eyes.
Gonzalez warned the husband if he opened his eyes, “the prayer would not work,” the affidavit states.
As the husband kept his eyes closed, Gonzalez began touching the woman inside her pants and then placed his hand on her face. The woman added that the pastor also grabbed her hand and placed it inside his pants.
ARRESTED ON 6 CHARGES AND GIVEN A HIGH BOND
Police gathered the incriminating reports and finally arrested the Mission pastor. Gonzalez was charged with 4 counts of indecent assault and 2 counts of sexual assault with a bond set at $400,000.
