Texas Nurses Horrified as Intruder Chokes Baby and Says “Die”

A terrifying and violent man made his way inside a Texas hospital. 18-year-old Marcus McCowan Jr. went to Odessa Regional Medical Center on October 3rd to visit his girlfriend who'd gone into labor.

AN ALARMING ENCOUNTER

McCowan entered the hospital and soon approached a nurse. According to the nurse, McCowan grabbed her by the arm and said something "unintelligible." Slightly alarmed by the man's actions, he was asked to leave the area.

McCowan began running back and forth in the hall and acting "odd and unreasonable." The situation quickly began to escalate when McCowan walked up to a woman and her newborn baby. The new mother grabbed her baby in the carrier and move away from McCowan's line of sight. This briefly averted his attention away but soon after McCowan did something beyond terrifying.

TARGETING THE NURSERY

According to the nurses in the area, they heard stomping and then saw McCowan running toward them at full speed. He was shouting and quickly charged toward three nurses as he attempted to charge his way into the nursery. One nurse was pushed to the ground in a rage to break into the hospital's nursery area.

However, the intrusion was unsuccessful and McCowan's attention quickly turned to the newborn and mother he had noticed earlier. In the blink of an eye, he snatched the baby from the carrier and ran into the Lactation Room nearby.

HORRIFIC SITUATION WITH NEWBORN

Horrified, a nurse followed McCowan into the room and saw something unimaginable. McCowan had his hands around the baby's neck choking it, watching the newborn's face turn blue. Nurses quickly wrestled the baby from McCowan and removed him from the Lactation Room. However, the situation only shifted to a different area.

A respiratory therapist who had heard the commotion came running towards the action and witnessed McCowan trying to break into the nursery again, only this time he was successful.

HE TOLD THE BABY "DIE"

Quickly, the RT ran into the nursery and walked into a gruesome scene. McCowan had picked up a newborn in the nursery by its neck and began to shake it. According to eh RT, the next thing she saw could have ended disastrously. McCowan told the baby "die" and began to move as if he was going to throw the baby to the ground.

The other woman entered just in time to pull him to the ground without causing any more damage to the newborn baby.

MCCOWAN RESISTS ARREST

911 was called and officers quickly arrived. McCowan tried to resist arrest and investigators said he tried taking an officer's gun from his holster twice. McCowan has been charged with two counts of Attempted Capital Murder, as well as Assault, Assault of a Public Servant, Resisting Arrest, Attempting to Take a Weapon From an Officer, Criminal Trespass, and Possession of a Controlled Substance
