New Yorkers who looked up into the sky on Friday were treated to something simply amazing. The Space Shuttle Enterprise rocketed past such iconic New York City landmarks as the Statue of Liberty and One World Trade Center before coming in for a landing at JFK airport. Luckily, photographers caught the close encounter. 

Enterprise, which was used as a test vehicle both in outer space and on the ground, zoomed around NYC atop a modified jumbo jet. The odd sight of a shuttle riding piggyback on a jet caused Twitter to erupt earlier today.
