One Texas city just landed at the top of a challenging list that's bringing tears to millions of people's faces.

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America’s (AAFA) just released a study putting Texas on blast. AAFA’s report ranks the top 100 most challenging cities in the continental United States to live with seasonal pollen allergies and Houston: We have a problem.  

The study lists the most challenging places to live in America if you have allergies. The results were based on:

• Tree, grass, and weed pollen scores
• Over-the-counter allergy medicine use
• Availability of board-certified allergists/immunologists

• Sneezing
• Stuffy nose (due to blockage or nasal congestion)
• Runny nose (also known as rhinorrhea – usually a thin, clear discharge)
• Red and watery eyes
• Itchy nose, eyes, ears, or mouth
• Swelling around the eyes

TIPS TO KEEP POLLEN OUT OF YOUR HOME

• Keep your windows and doors closed 
  • It's beautiful outside and you might be craving fresh air, but there's a good chance that the breeze is full of pollen.
• Remove your shoes before entering your home
  • Don't track in pollen, and leave your shoes at the door.
• Empty your vacuum outside
  • You've just sucked up a bunch of dust and pollen, don't go and spread it back into the air while dumping it into your kitchen trash can.
• Brush and wipe down pets coming inside and out of the home
  • If you've got pets going in and out, give them a good brush outside and wipe those paws with pet wipes to reduce any pollen they might have tracked in from outside.
• Use a pollen air filter
  • There are specific air filters you can purchase to help cut down on pollen, make sure you're replacing them often.
• Dust with a microfiber cloth
  • Microfiber towels will trap dust and pollen inside by just brushing them back into the air.
• Use in an air purifier
  • Investing in an air purifier will work wonders. They've been proven to remove pollen from the air before they can even settle on a surface.
