Riverside Golf Course in Riverside Park reopened in January after undergoing a management change, upgrades to the course and damage from Hurricane Harvey, and officials say it's making money.

The City of Victoria assumed the running of the course when the previous management agency couldn't turn a profit, and in fact wasn't able to make good on a $180,000 bank loan. At a city council meeting yesterday, financial expert Gilbert Reyna reported that savings from unfilled positions and other lower costs meant earnings for the city course were right around $161,000 for the first quarter of 2018, which was above expectations.
