Top 5 Recommendations for the Now Defunct Taco Bueno in Victoria

The buzz in Victoria, TX in 2023 was the opening of the Fab 5 Restaurants on Navarro Street near Glascow. The anticipation was palatable as we all watched the building of the 5 new restaurants. Our small town was guessing which chains were coming in and all of us couldn't wait for the reveal of signage confirming our guesses. One of the restaurants was a Taco Bueno, adding a new choice to an already crowded field in South Texas.

Sure, we have lots of choices for Mexican cuisine in the area, but maybe they would provide a new twist to an old favorite food in the area. Obviously, that didn't happen, and they closed the restaurant Christmas weekend. Talk about Coal in the Stocking!

Today we see an empty building that needs a new menu, a new choice for a hungry multitude. So, let's look at our Wish List for 5 possible candidates.

#5 Taco Cabana

This chain is popular a couple hours away in San Antonio and survives in the Capitol City of South Texas. It obviously has a menu and taste to be profitable.

#4 Jersey Mikes Subs

Victoria could use this delicious sub sandwich option. Known for its fast service, varied sub sandwich options, both Hot and Cold. Its a great option for the Victoria tastebuds.

#3 In-N-Out Burger

This is probably a long shot due to the size of the Victoria and the Crossroads, but if we are wishing at this point, why not? The uber popular California based chain has one of the best burgers around and is always has a line of cars backed up to experience their take on the All-American Classic.

#2 Panera

Great breads for your sweet tooth and breads you can't find just anywhere. They provide a menu from Soups, Salads to Sandwiches. You would probably bypass the drive thru and go inside to experience the homey atmosphere.

#1 Chipotle

The choice had once been tried in the area and didn't succeed. But like the saying goes, try and try again. It may have been location or just market conditions that led to its departure, but the Fab 5 location is a can't miss location. A location worthy of the yummy menu of Chipotle.
