So, Victoria city and county officials announced the other day that they would begin spraying insecticide to get the mosquito explosion under control. They have begun but, you may have noticed that the pest's population isn't shrinking as much as we would have hoped. The good news is, officials say spraying will continue until the situation is under control.

The first round of spraying was completed last night, and I know at my house at least, I haven't really noticed a difference. Trucks doing the spraying are out making their rounds in early morning and early evening hours, weather permitting.

Officials say they are also treating pools of standing water with a larvicide to kill mosquito larvae before the next round of the pesky bugs hatch.
