For Memorial Day, Twisted Sister icon Dee Snider and his grandson placed flags near the headstones of fallen soldiers Monday (May 27) to honor those who have died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

But he's not the only rocker to salute the servicemen and women who gave their lives. KISS and a range of other artists and bands joined in the chorus on Twitter to memorialize the troops.

Retweeting a fellow supporter, Snider amended his tweet with one zeroing in on the significance of the holiday.

"Nothing drives me crazier than hearing people saying, 'Happy Memorial Day!'," the songwriter said. "There's nothing happy about it. But we can celebrate the memories of those who gave their lives so we can enjoy this day of freedom with family and friends."
