Original artwork is just cool. Especially if it can include a day trip to the beach.

If you are looking for original artwork to put in your home or office, really, you don't  have to look any further than the Rockport Art Festival brought to you by my friends at the Rockport Center for the Arts.

When is the Rockport Art Festival?

This one is easy to remember, as it's always held on the July 4th weekend in Rockport Texas so this year, it will be held July 3rd and July 4th at the Rockport Festival Grounds at 1500 E. Laurel. You can't miss the tents! The festival will be open 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday.

What kind of art is there?

Check this out, this year there will be over 120 artists who create in all kinds of mediums, from watercolor to wood there is something for everyone. And not all of it is "beach themed" artwork either. I am going to be really honest and tell you I am there for the JEWELRY and pottery lately. Over the years I've started to treat myself to either a piece of handcrafted jewelry or pottery ware. We are blessed to be related to artist Barbara Sparkman ( Capt. Husbands mom) and over the years her work she has been featured in area art museums and galleries like the Nave and Rockport Art Center. In doing so, we've been exposed and collecting original art for years. Now I am more inclined to wear it, or serve out of it, so I'm always headed to the custom jewelry booth or pottery booths first lately. But truly, something for everyone there. Glass, fiber, ceramics, pottery, all of the above and more.

But wait there is more!

The festival is so awesome, there will be live music, kids activities, cold beer, tasty food and an air conditioned main tent! Tickets start at $10 with the proceeds going back into the art community!
