Kid Rock Lists ‘Stunning’ Detroit House for $2.2 Million
Kid Rock is selling his Detroit mansion. He's asking $2.2 million for the property, which he purchased in 2012.
The listing, held by Skyline Realty Group, refers to the house as a "stunning home ... nestled in an exclusive subdivision," noting that it and the Detroit mayor's official place are among the few standalone residences that sit alongside the Detroit River. It adds that the house, built in 1930, has six bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms, with 6,000 square feet on a 0.85-acre lot.
The details entirely fit with Kid Rock's public image. American flags can be seen all over the place. In one bedroom, a painting of George Washington is placed above a four-poster, while monogrammed pillows with the initials of Rock's given name, Robert James Ritchie, rest on a bed in another.
"God Bless America" stretches out over a large doorway that leads out to a deck. A painting of Jesus Christ is in the bathroom, which features shades boasting "Made in Detroit." Jesus is also represented in a statue in the backyard, which also hosts a boathouse that Rock customized to add jet-ski lifts, an outdoor shower and a deck for entertaining. The recreation room with a bar and booths includes tables for both poker and beer pong.
Last year, Kid Rock's childhood home, a 22-room estate in Bruce Township, Mich., hit the market for $600,000 and was sold a few months later for $650,000. That property contains a tennis court, guest house and a stable for three horses. The Detroit News notes that Kid Rock also has homes in Nashville, Alabama and Oakland County, Mich.
