They’re touting a number of recent gun-related arrests…but none of them have anything to do with Grisham’s probably unconstitutional ban.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office reports 13 arrests and 10 guns seized as part of the “Forefront Against Gun Violence” initiative.

The FAGV (somebody should have researched that acronym a little more) has been a joint effort between the BCSO, US Marshals, and the Drug Enforcement Agency.

The arrests touted include people wanted for armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and firearm possession by a convicted felon.  But we can be fairly sure that none of these arrests or confiscations came about because of the Grisham gun ban. Here’s why…

For starters, we know this because all of the arrests were for people who were already wanted in direct connection with a gun crime.

None of these people were arrested just for having a weapon in violation of the governor’s order.

These were all people ALREADY involved or suspected in a gun-related crime. Ergo, no need for a gun ban. Just catch the people who’ve already broken the law.

There’s another reason we know these arrests didn’t have anything at all to do with the Grisham Gun Gag. Because the Bernalillo County sheriff already said they wouldn’t be enforcing the ban.

In fact, he said so just as soon as the governor made the order.Something HAS to be done about gun violence in this country.

Arresting people who’ve already broken the law is an excellent place to start.
