The personal finance website, WalletHub, just reported the Best & Worst States for Women in 2024. Texas did NOT come out on top, that's for sure. Texas was among the absolute worst states for women to live in. The Lone Star State ranked in the bottom 5, at number 47.

Here are some of the study's key findings:

Texas ranked 44th for unemployment among women, 41st for women's preventative health care, 40th for the share of women in poverty, and 51st for the number of uninsured women.

How is it even possible to rank 51st out of only 50 states??? Holy smokes...

The study did find some good things, though. Women in Texas ranked pretty high regarding the median earnings for females in the workforce. Women in Texas also had a decent graduation rate.

So, what state is the worst place for women to live?

Yep. You guessed it. Oklahoma...

Oklahoma is at the top of the list of the most challenging spots for women to live in the United States. The major issues are unequal pay and cruddy access to healthcare. Followed by Oklahoma is Louisiana, because of the lack of affordable childcare, and the high rate of violence that is sexual. Coming in third is Mississippi, due to the large gender pay gap, and reproductive rights.

It's safe to say that Texas has a few things to work on before women will be living in paradise. How do you feel about being a woman in Texas? My experience has been pretty good, but it could always be better. Tell me about yours in a comment below this article or email me at Chrissy.Covington@townsquaremedia.com
