A middle school teacher in Gatesville, Texas has been charged with indecency with a child and possession of child pornography with intent to distribute after a high school student told authorities the two exchanged nude photos and engaged in sexting on Instagram.

Kolo 8 News Now reports that Gatesville Independent School District received reports that a student allegedly received inappropriate messages from Christine Paige Cockrell, an earth science teacher at Gatesville Junior High School in Texas.

The victim was 15 years old and told investigators that Cockrell began exchanging sexually explicit messages and photos on Instagram in October 2023.

Cockrell allegedly “sent nude photographs of her breasts and asked (the victim) for nude photographs of himself, according to criminal complaint affidavits.

The conversation involved meeting up for sex, but they did not do so, according to the complaint. Two warrants for improper relationship between educator and student were issued and Gatesville ISD police arrested Cockrell on Friday. Read the full story by clicking here.
