This year marks the ninth anniversary of Hurricane Harvey's landfall in southeast Texas. Still, after nine years, the memory of Hurricane Harvey is still fresh in some of our minds.  I don't think anyone expected a Category 4 Hurricane. Less than two days earlier, Harvey was just a tropical depression in the Gulf.

Hurricane Harvey, from tropical depression to Cat 4 in 40 hours.

The final 40 hours before Harvey made landfall led to massive intensification. Hurricane Harvey quickly intensified from a tropical depression to a major hurricane in around 40 hours. Peak wind gusts were reported at 132 mph. Rockport took a direct hit from Harvey when it made landfall on August, 25, 2017, at around 10 p.m.

Victoria suffered serious damage from Hurricane Harvey.

Since Victoria is only about 60 miles from Rockport, we also saw some big damage in Victoria. There were downed trees, traffic lights, and structures that were flattened to the ground. In fact, some residents were without power for almost a month. Of all the damage that we had, the one thing that sticks out for me is that Veracruz Mexican Restaurant was damaged. We had no access to those Ventura’s chips, queso, and the Tejano burrito when we needed it most.
@gabstar427 #hurricaneharvey August 2017 my hometown and surrounding areas were hit by Hurricane Harvey. This is a collection of pictures taken by my friends and family members who stayed and didn't evacuate and posted them to snapchat and some I took when I came back to town with my cat and my inherited dog who was my grandma's but she had been sick before we left and purposefully left her medication at home so she wouldn't have to take it and was taken my ambulance from the hotel we stayed at. I kept her dog and loved him for five years until he passed away from a heart condition. needless to say the devastation will never be forgotten and we all lost tremendously. my grandma was never well enough to leave the nursing home she was placed in during the evacuation and ended up passing away some months later at a hospital halfway between there and home. I did get to say my last goodbyes and I would've had more time with her if not for Harvey but I'm thankful for having that at least #hurricane #evacuation #hurricaneaftermath #destruction #texas #texasstrong #texanshelpingtexans #mydogstory #mydog #mygrandma #stayingalive #stayingsafe #MyDolceMoment ♬ cardigan stems - afterglow audios
