Set your clocks back one hour on Sunday at 2 am.

It's almost the end of Daylight Savings Time and in autumn, we "fall back" an hour.

Even if you remember that in spring, we spring forward and in autumn we "fall back', Daylight Savings Time can still be stressful. We lose sleep, gain sleep, remember, forget, stress about remembering, stress about forgetting, and still have to get our brains and bodies regulated to the changes!

We can ALL AGREE 2020 has been stressful enough without Daylight Savings Time mucking it up! Ps. Really like we needed an extra hour of 2020?

You especially don't want to forget Daylight Savings Time (DST) this year because one study suggests waking up not knowing what time it is, especially the Monday after Daylight Savings Time, can actually be detrimental to our HEALTH!

In an intriguing article by Mental Floss which you can read in its entirety here,

"Many studies have shown that DST is associated with an increase in heart attacks, with one study showing a 24 percent increase in the number of heart attacks on the Monday after DST.

According to the University of Michigan, Mondays are bad for heart attacks in general (researchers believes the stress of beginning a new workweek and changes to the sleep-wake cycle are the reason why), but DST makes everything worse. Interestingly, the Tuesday following the end of DST was associated with a 21 percent drop in patients.

NO ONE WANTS A HEART ATTACK!

Here are two ways to remember to set your clocks BACK on Saturday at 2am so you can truly enjoy those extra sixty minutes of ZZZzzzzs.

It sounds silly, but listening to Cher's "comeback song" from 1989 " If I Could Turn Back Time" will only reinforce your memory bank to turn back the clocks one hour Saturday night before you go to bed. Sing it while you set your clocks back for extra fun!

Now that most of us have smartphones, take a second RIGHT NOW to remind yourself via Siri to set your clock back, then you don't have to remember "to remember" to do it, and BONUS if your phone somehow ( although unlikely) doesn't remind you, Monday when you're late to work you can blame it on your phone. Wink Wink.

Now it's not just the stress of waking up not knowing what time it is that affects our health. It can take a few days to get your body adjusted to the time change. With that in mind, here are some great ways from Inside Edition. to get your body mentally ready during the workweek the Monday after DST.

Now to relax just by using your breath, here is an awesome video by Megan Livingstone which can really help you in any situation, not just DST situations.

Stay healthy and stay calm friends. We hope you enjoy your extra hour of sleep on Sunday.
