A Houston doctor is being sued by the family of a 4-year-old boy whose hernia surgery led to an 'unintentional' vasectomy. What? According to a report by fox26houston, Houston Attorney, Randy Sorrels, says the 4-year-old had surgery to treat a hernia in the groin area. At some point during the surgery, the 4-year-old had an "unintended vasectomy."  This is an uncommon mistake and wasn't discovered until it was sent in for pathology!  The doctor was performing the procedure at Texas Children’s Hospital As a result of the error, which happened in August last year, the boy is suffering from uncomfortable swelling. The parents now will have the difficult task of explaining this terrible mistake to their son when the time is right.

The family's attorney added to his statement,  "before a doctor transects or cuts any part of the anatomy, they are supposed to positively identify what that anatomy is and then cut. Here, the doctor failed to accurately identify the anatomy that needed to be cut. Unfortunately, cut his vas deferens." This could lead to the 4-year-old's inability to reproduce later on in life, according to the Attorney.  The hospital is not able to comment at this time due to patient privacy requirements.
