The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Victoria County from 12 PM to 6 PM this evening.

It's hard to imagine that a Catagory 4 storm was just down the road from us but here in the Crossroads it's another warm summer day with temps near 100. I'm sure we'd all rather have the heat than 150 mph winds that our neighbors in Louisiana just experienced. Once we get past today's Heat Advisory we will still see plenty of triple-digit heat for the weekend.

  • Friday: Mosty Sunny. High 98
  • Saturday: Partly Cloudy. Showers and thunderstorms possible. High 98.
  • Sunday: Partly Cloudy. A stray shower or thunderstorm possible. High 96

Triple-Digit Heat Index values will continue to be possible through the weekend.

Victoria will see Partly Sunny skies today with heat index values between 110 and 114 degrees between the hours of Noon and 6 PM. If you are working outside today you'll want to take frequent breaks indoors in the A/C or under a shady spot to get out of the heat when possible. Be sure to keep an eye on your pets and don't leave them outside for too long today. You also don't want any person or pet waiting inside a car for a prolonged period of time on a day like today. Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke to be able to help others in need. Heat Stroke is an emergency. If you see someone overcome by the heat call 9-1-1. Heatstroke is an emergency situation.
