Just when you thought there weren't enough holidays for condiments and foods, another holiday jumps out and surprises you. Today is Hot Sauce Day! While it is unclear to whom started this holiday (and when for that matter), it is clear that it was created with the sole purpose of spreading spicy sauces.

Take some time today and fix yourself your favorite meal...and add a little kick to it. The best culinary combination is flavor and spice. Too often do foods sacrifice one for the other, but making a food rich with taste and heat would make for a great meal or snack (depending on what you're making). If you are in the mood for some spicy and tasty food, then click here for a recipe for Spicy Chicken Teriyaki. Not a rice fan? Then here is a recipe for Sriracha Turkey Burgers. Those should at least help you get an idea of what to make.

Scoville Scale

When it comes to spice, don't neglect the scale that all spices are ranked on, the Scoville Heat Unit. This is where you can view where certain peppers are ranked and find out which ones are safe for consumption. There actually are peppers that, when not prepared the right way, will leave your mouth and esophagus with third degree burns. For information on the Scoville Scale, click here.
