Are you a fan of gumdrops? Then this is a fun holiday for you. If you don't know what gumdrops are...you might be new to the world of candy. Gumdrops are sugar-coated-gummy-anything-shaped-candy-things. They come in a variety of flavors and there are multiple kinds of gumdrops but the overall takeaway from today's holiday is to simply go out and enjoy some gumdrops while reveling in the fact that this holiday exists to do just that. While its unclear when this holiday started, it has been found that Gumdrop day was celebrated at least as far back as 2004.

If you have a bowl full of these gelatinous goodies but not wanting to eat them, you can make fun with gumdrops. Gumdrops have become a staple in food construction like gingerbread houses. However, it could be said that this time of year is too soon for gingerbread houses. So, instead make Chocolate Chip houses or Snickerdoodle houses or (insert favorite cookie here) houses. The main thing is to use the gumdrops to sweet-bling your creation. For some more fun, you could try and make your own gumdrops at home. Its not all that difficult really. All you need are the right ingredients and tools to get the job done.  Here's a little video on how to make your own homemade gumdrops.
