Elton John and his life partner David Furnish have both said in recent weeks that they hope their son Zachary won’t be an only child. It looks like the couple was optimistic for a reason. The Daily is reporting the men will welcome another child via surrogate, later this year or in early 2013.

The classic rocker and Furnish have reportedly hired the same surrogate who gave birth to Zachary in December 2010. According to the Daily Mail, Furnish said in an April interview they would consider the same woman, but added he didn’t know if she’d be up for it. She also gave birth to both of actor Kelsey Grammer’s children with his wife Camille.

Last week, Elton John played coy when asked about the potential for a little brother or sister for Zachary. “At what stage we don’t know, but we definitely will,” he told Daybreak. “I don’t want him to be an only child.”

John is 65 while Furnish is 49. Both men and their spokespersons refused to comment on the report. Earlier this month, the singer hinted that he may quit music when his son begins school.
