DOOM sound designer Mick Gordon is looking for a heavy metal choir. Though Gordon doesn’t say so directly, the choir of screamers is very likely being assembled for the upcoming DOOM Eternal video game, and anyone can submit a demo to join the paid gig.

Gordon is one of the architects behind the incredible soundtrack to DOOM’s 2016 reboot. The game’s unbridled brutality is wonderfully accentuated by its score, which won several awards for its composition. Gordon says the DOOM Eternal soundtrack will be similar to the 2016 game, telling VGR, “We spent so much time defining the sound of DOOM, we’re not going to abandon it now.”

As for his heavy metal choir, Gordon began scouting for talent via YouTube. "I really want to record a choir," Gordon says. "But for this project, I don’t want to record a regular choir; I want to record a choir made up entirely of heavy metal screamers. To the best of my knowledge, I don’t believe this has ever been done before. Therefore, here is an open invitation to anyone out there who wants to apply to join our Heavy Metal Choir. As long as you have a killer metal scream, I want you."

An all-screaming choir? Sounds bad ass! The closest living examples we can think of are Cattle Decapitation’s “Lifestalker” or the Stallagh tapes, but Gordon’s final product will likely be 50 layers deep and extremely refined.

If you’re thinking of joining the choir, you’ve got to be able to travel to Austin, Texas in the first week of March, be 18 or older and get your demo in by Feb. 1. Again, this is a paid gig, so screamers will leave the session with a chunk of change. You can apply here.
