That may be the case, after results of the National Assessment of Education Progress science test results from 2015 were released yesterday.

Fourth and eighth graders across Texas took the NAEP test last year and, compared to 2009, they beat the national average. Texas Commissioner of Education Mike Morath called the results "a reflection of effective teaching, and rigorous curriculum seen on Texas campuses every school day."

The test results reflect that 37% of Texas eighth graders were performing at or above proficient, while the national average is at 33%.
