There's apparently a trucker shortage in America, and companies are willing to pay big money to hire.

A report from WFAA says that experienced truck drivers can make up to $14,000 a week because of the truck driver shortage happening across the country.

The pandemic has hit us in all sorts of ways over the last year, from toilet paper shortages to people losing jobs, and apparently nobody wanting to work. The restaurant industry is also having problems getting people hired.

Many believe the additional $300 a week in unemployment benefits has contributed to people just wanting to stay home instead of finding a job.

The pandemic slowed the trucking business down as the demand for some products dropped and some companies made cuts. That caused many in the trucking industry to find work elsewhere. Now that the demand is growing, the trucking industry is finding it hard to find drivers.

With demand for products on the rise, truckers are needed to haul those products across the country. Without them, we could be seeing a shortages in more than just toilet paper and chicken wings.

CEO and owner of Sisu Energy, Jim Grundy, says shortages could take place not only this summer, but well into the future. "That this thing is going to last anywhere from two to four years. And it could be longer because the population's getting stronger."

That's why his company, Sisu Energy, is looking to hire experienced drives at $14,000 a week. Let's do the math on that. At $14,000 a week, that's a little more than $60,000 a month or close to $750,000 a year.

Grundy says, "Insurance companies won't insure you if you're not twenty-five years old if you don't have two years of experience. So as a new driver coming out, these opportunities aren't available to you."

I'm glad he clarified that, 'cause I was ready to go get behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler as soon as I left work tonight.

If you have the experience and are looking for a well-paying gig, check out Sisu Energy. They have jobs available in South Texas and you can find out more here.
