You see political posts of all kinds on social media like Facebook used to declare one position or another, and they're often not true.Take for example a recent post that claimed that a 97 year old Victoria woman was not allowed to vote in the Texas Primary Election because of restrictive voter ID laws.

Bernice Nelson was featured in a meme posted by political advocacy group Occupy Democrats that claimed "she's voted in every election she's ever been eligible for. Due to Texas new "voter ID law" she wasn't able to vote in last month's primary."

Only one problem-Nelson did vote in the primary. Despite the fact that she didn't renew her drivers license because of her age, she was able to get an election identification certificate when her daughter took her to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The post was shared over 46,000 times with over 42,000 'likes.' Just goes to show that you can't always take Facebook posts at face value, no pun intended.

Coincidentally, an online poll published in yesterday's Victoria Advocate showed 95% of respondents trust what they see posted on Facebook.
