Victoria Transit buses were back on the road this week, despite a fire that destroyed 32 of them last weekend.

Beginning Tuesday of this week, Victoria Transit buses hit the road on schedule every half hour. Other local and state offices helped get the buses running after a fire last Saturday destroyed 32 out of 53 buses at the bus depot on North Laurent. Victoria Transit is temporarily using 2 buses from Sugar Land and 5 from V.I.S.D.

According to a published report, officials have not determined the cause of Saturday's early morning fire, Victoria Fire Chief Taner Drake saying "these types of investigations can take quite a bit of time to investigate."
