An event called a Cannabis Open Carry Walk set for Tuesday (Feb. 13th) is not strictly about recreational use of the drug, instead it's also about informing the public of how to affect change.

Organized by 28 year old Melissa Barksdale of Placedo, the walk will stress cannabis freedom for medicinal use as well.

Barksdale works for the American Cannabis Company who grow a strain of the weed called 'Charlotte's Web' in Colorado which has no THC and doesn't get a person high. Instead, the weed helps children who suffer from medical conditions including seizures.

Barksdale lost a leg as a result of a car accident 9 years ago, and the medicinal pot she used gave her pain relief.

The walk is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 13th at 1pm at the Autozone parking lot at 4303 N. Navarro. According to a published report, a Facebook event says 146 people are planning to attend and over 700 said they were interested.
