Bad news for golfers who like to play Riverside Golf Course, it's slated to be closed for a while to allow for improvements.

Victoria City Manager Charmelle Garrettt told city councilors that the temporary closing will allow the city to improve the grass on the course, eliminating fungus, mowing and watering. The shutdown is expected to last about 60 days, and will happen in July and through most of August. Ultimately the city will hire a company to manage the course and will accept bids in the hiring process, but for now, the city will work on improving the conditions of the course.

The move comes after the Victoria Parks Improvement Association said it would no longer lease the course from the city, and Victoria takes over July 1st.
