VISD takes a lot of heat over the quality of education our kids get in Victoria but they must be doing something right, as the district superintendent has been named Superintendent of the Year.

Robert Jacklich was given the honor on Friday by the Region 3 Education Service Center, nominated by the VISD school board. Board President Lou Svetlick said Jacklich "brings a motivational style and caring for all kids that is exceptional," adding "the plan of success Jacklich has implemented in the district has served to build community partnerships."

Among Jacklich's accomplishments are the reduction of campuses that are noted 'improvement required' to just two.

Jacklich took over the position in 2012.
